A Decade of Shared Dreams: Celebrating 10 Years of the SAI–GAF Journey and Saluting Our Swimmers & Parents

As our formal decade-long collaboration draws to a close on September 1, 2026, the Glenmark Aquatic Foundation (GAF) expresses its deepest gratitude to the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

When we signed our joint agreement in June 2016, our collective mission was ambitious: to build a structured, sustainable high-performance ecosystem capable of elevating Indian competitive swimming from grassroots scouting to elite world-class standards. Ten years on, that shared vision has transformed the national aquatics landscape.

To the leadership at SAI, the center directors, and the entire technical and administrative staff at all SAI centers: thank you for a decade of trust, institutional backing, and collaborative support.

A Decade of Shared Milestones (2016–2026)

Together, the SAI-GAF ecosystem produced landmark results across development, infrastructure, and elite performance:

  • Grassroots Reach: Established and operated premier high-performance hubs at NCOE Delhi, LNCPE Thiruvananthapuram (since Oct 2021), and SAIGAF Gandhinagar (since Sep 2024), while driving grassroots youth engagement through SAI’s Come and Play Scheme.

  • Mass Athlete Development: Provided structured, elite training pathways for more than 1,500 swimmers across the country.

  • Podium Performance: Clinched over 100 International Medals and 500+ National Medals at marquee events like the Asian Age Group Championships, South Asian Games, SAARC Games, and BIMSTEC Meets, alongside decisive sweeps at the 2022 and 2024 National Games.

  • Record Standards: Broke national barriers with 30+ Best Indian Times across age categories in both Long Course and Short Course pools.

  • Historic Elite Benchmarks: Secured 3 Olympic 'B' Cuts and placed 6 swimmers on the Indian squad at the 2023 Asian Games—the highest representation from any single academy in India—including India’s only female individual qualifier. Best performance by an Indian swimmer (On Rank Basis) at the World Aquatic Junior Championships in 2025.

To Our Swimmers: The Heart of the Program

To every swimmer who trained under the SAI-GAF banner: these milestones exist because of your relentless discipline in the water. You embraced 5:00 AM training sessions, endured demanding physical load, and stepped onto the blocks with courage against the best in the world.

As many of you transition to new training grounds, academies, or academic paths, carry forward the high-performance habits, mental resilience, and technical rigor you built here. This chapter concludes, but your competitive journey continues.

To Our Parents: Our Pillar of Support

To the parents who entrusted your children to this program: elite sporting success is impossible without the family behind the athlete. Your dedication—managing logistics, travel, nutrition, and standing by your swimmers through both triumphs and difficult meets—was integral to every success of this partnership. We thank you sincerely for your partnership and trust over the past ten years.

The formal agreement between SAI and GAF concludes, but the standards of professionalism, sports science, and high performance established over the last decade will continue to serve as a strong foundation for the future of Indian swimming.
